Small Space Vegetable Gardening is an independent online resource for beginners making practical use of balconies, patios, raised beds and small yards.

What we do

We focus on the decisions that make a compact garden workable: available light, mature plant size, root room, containers, access and sensible crop selection. The homepage guide and planner share one centralized crop dataset so their recommendations remain consistent.

Our approach

We compare recommendations from university Extension and horticultural sources, acknowledge where guidance differs, and favor forgiving beginner starting points over theoretical minimums. We do not invent credentials or imply endorsement by cited organizations.

What we do not do

The planner does not know your climate, structure, local regulations or chosen cultivar. It provides educational starting points, not professional agricultural, engineering or safety advice.
